Antique German Germany Black Forest Hand Carved Bear Bears Music Box Smoking Cigar Stand Table. This great table has some of the best wood carving I have seen, the bears are exquisite and realistic. All bears have black glass eyes. There is a large bear climbing/holding the tree at the base and he has a large realistic smoking pipe in his hand.

The base of the table is a tripod of three tree branches that lead to the central tree trunk base. The top features an ornate oval carved leaves and scrolls border and holds a hinged lid storage box, a hinged lid music box (both with bear finials), and a central bear that would push up and hold the old wood matches that came in a matchbox. Top measures 14 1/2 x 21 3/4 wide. Overall the smoking stand is 35 tall.

The largest bear on the base measures almost 13" and the other bears are about 6" to 7 tall. Overall Very Good to Excellent Condition, however, there has been some warping to the wood over the past 100+ years and a past glue repair to the top surface. If looking for perfection, it needs to be taken apart and reassembled and glued so that all joints are nice and tight again.

The top was designed and made in two horizontal sections with the storage box and music box surrounding each half. The central bear unscrews and can be removed. There is a gap or separation at the horizontal seam and a break/split in the border at this time. There is no real damage, maybe a small chip to a leaf or two, some splits/breaks, and wood warping over time, and an old reglue.

There is no wood missing. Definitely worth the TLC to make it perfect, but also can be enjoyed just the way it is, with all its character.
