GUND Swedlin Lamb with Original Working Music Box and Ribbon ca. 1940 1950

  
Here is an excellent vintage GUND musical toy from the 1950s or so. It is a lamb (not jointed) that appropriately plays " MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB ". Obviously a high-quality music mechanism was used - the sound is quite good and on-key. I think GUND and Swedlin used high-quality imported Swiss music boxes back then. Clearly this was made before the safety regulations on toys, as an infant would have easily pulled off the googly eyes and swallowed them. The ribbon would also be a potential choking hazard and would not be allowed in. Not sure if this was ever used, as it was most likely a crib/infant toy and infants tend to be rough on toys. Some areas on the covering where the white has become more of a pale pink over the years. It is very, very unusual to find these vintage GUND toys in this high-end condition.
