Harrod's Victorian Musical Bear 1993. Limited Edition of only 2,000 Bears. 650680, this bear was reproduced from an old model form from around 1906 exclusively for Harrods Department Store in London. It is covered with the finest long pile mohair, with felt paws, a handstitched nose, and claws. The bear is provided with a high-quality musical movement playing Rossini's The Thieving Magpie. He wears a Victorian waistcoat manufactured from English brocade. Each piece of this limited edition is handmade in Germany with loving care. In 1902, Richard Steiff, a nephew of Margarete Steiff, designed the first jointed bear, which, under the name of "Teddy Bear, " quickly developed as the central figure in the world of toys. As early as 1907, the Steiff factory in Giengen produced more than 974,000 Teddy Bears, among other toys.

Since then, Harrods Department Store in London has been one of the most famous places to present and sell Steiff Teddy Bears and toys. To commemorate this longtime partnership, Margarete Steiff GmbH produced 1993/94 the Victorian Musical Bear. This Bear is in excellent condition, has no odors, and appears to have only been used for display and the music box works well. Bear stands at approximately 15 ¾ high (40 cm). Please note the following: (1) The Certificate of Authenticity was rolled by prior owner.

The Certificate, therefore, does not sit flat (see pictures), and (2) the original box has significant staining. I have meticulously inspected this item and found no breakage or flaws except those described above.
