On the set alarm time, the formally attired ballerina, "en pointe, " one arm raised, spins left and right, moves up and down in time with the Strauss Waltz. The clock keeps perfect time and the Swiss alarm music is so very sweet and clear.This exquisite piece operates beautifully for it's 50 + age. Has music shut-off knob at base.
In my opinion, this is, by far, the finest and most beautiful ballerina music box alarm clock ever made. Size: 7 Inches High, 3 inches round. "Rosen aus dem Süden" (Roses From the South), Op. 388, is a waltz medley composed by Johann Strauss in 1880 with its themes drawn from the operetta "Das Spitzentuch der Königin" (The Queen's Lace Handkerchief).
Strauss dedicated the waltz to King Umberto I of Italy. The waltz was first performed at the Sunday concerts of the Strauss Orchestra and conducted by Eduard Strauss on 7 November 1880 at the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria.
